This page lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage that amberfinders.com uses, and how to control them.
1. What Cookies Are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to keep. Browser local storage works in a similar way. Both let a site remember something between one page and the next.
2. What We Set
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __Host-ck | Essential cookie | Secures your checkout session and links your payment to your order | 90 minutes |
| amber-finders-cart | Local storage | Remembers the items in your cart | Until you check out or clear your browser data |
| af-cookie-choice | Local storage | Remembers your cookie choice so the banner is not shown again | Until you clear your browser data |
The checkout cookie cannot be read by page scripts and is sent only over secure connections.
3. Categories
Essential: needed for the cart and checkout to work. These are always on and are the only ones we use today.
Analytics and marketing: we do not currently use any. If we add them, they will be listed in the table above and will stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner.
4. Third Parties
We do not place third-party cookies. If you pay with PayPal, PayPal sets its own cookies on its own site under its own policy. Our hosting provider may set a short-lived security cookie to protect the site against automated attacks.
5. Managing Cookies
Use "Cookie settings" in the footer to reopen the banner and change your choice at any time. You can also block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings — in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge these sit under the privacy or site-data section.
6. If You Block Them
Blocking the essential cookie stops checkout from completing, and clearing local storage empties your cart. The rest of the site still works.
7. Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of every optional category.
8. Changes
If we add or change a cookie, this page and its date change first.
